How to Setup the Gas for your 'Smith Little' torch.

Properly connecting and setting pressures for your torch is essential for safe and effective use. In this Article, AJS will provide a step-by-step guide on how to connect and regulate pressures for a little torch.

The first step is to ensure that all connections are securely tightened with a spanner. In the video above the LPG regulator and LPG bottle have been pre-connected, and the oxygen regulator has been connected to an oxygen bottle from BOC Gases.

To initialize pressure for the LPG regulator, you must turn the black control valve on the regulator to the left and fully open the main valve on the LPG bottle. Then open the red control valve on the torch, while slowly turning the black control valve on the regulator to the right until the desired pressure of 200 kPa is reached. The same process is repeated for the oxygen regulator, with the additional step of adjusting the oxygen content dial on the regulator.

Once both regulators have been set to the desired pressure, it is important to close the control valves on the torches. It must be emphasized that there is no need to adjust the regulators or pressures further, and that the main tank valves on the bottles should be closed when not in use.

Overall, proper connection and setting of pressures for your torch is crucial for safe and efficient operation. By following the steps outlined in this article, it can be ensured that your torch is ready for use and that you can perform soldering and melting tasks with ease.
